Afforestation

Through agro-forestry approach, we restore the degraded land affected by deforestation back into green forests. This is for the environmental conservation and improving peoples livelihoods. ambakofi implement afforestation projects in two villages of Mkange and Mihuga, both in the new Chalinze District Council which is divided from Bagamoyo District.

These projects are ”Trees Nursery, whis is regarded as the foundation for the forests restoration in Mkange and the nearby villages. The second project is the Agroforest Project. The project ocupy 50 acres of open land which before the project was only covered with grass, bushes and trees stumps. 24 villagers join ambakofi to turn the area into the forest in the coming near future. As project beneficiaries they participate in all day to day project activities from the eariest stage.

Today, varieties of trees is planted in the project area. From fruits trees like mangoes, avocados, guava, oranges, sour soaps, tangerines, lemon, custads apples to woods trees such as teak, mahogany spicies,

The third project is the Mangroves Restoration project. This initiative will be implemented in the Five Coastal villages of Pangani District, Tanga Region. Sange, Kipumbwi, Stahabu, Ushongo, and Bweni are the villages Mangroves restoration project will be executed.

In the past, the target project site was covered with a dense forest. But due to unsustainable cuttings of trees for making charcoal, timber, fuelwood and other building materials, now there are remains empty with grasses, bushes, and the open land.

In the trees nursery project, varieties of trees species seedlings are raised. They include Afzelia quanzensis (Red African Mahogany), Albizia Lebbeck, Khaya anthotheca, Gmelina Arborea (White Teak), Sesbania Sesban, Gliricidia Cepium, Acacia Nilotika, Tectona Grandis, Papaya and Melia Azadarch (Neem).

Tree Seeds for sustainable forests.

Raised trees seedlings will be provided to the project beneficiaries for free. A small donation of money will be imposed on other villagers who wish to establish trees farming for the income generation and conservation activities. ambakofi will plant more produced trees seedlings in other villages whereby land for agroforestry projects will be offered. Public areas such as schools, health centres, and villages offices will be among the priority areas to plant wood and fruits trees.

To retain back the lost forests in the area and the nearby villages in the district this nursey will be a focal destination for producing trees seedlings. So the plant is to produce 20,000 trees seedlings each year. We encourage community, government, institutional and donors participation and support to make this dream comes true.

Agroforest project is practised in the 50 acres land which is critically affected by deforestation. The project includes wood and fruits trees, banana, pineapple, papaya, vegetables, spice crops 〈ginger and garlic〉, cassava, sunflower, and cow pease.

Apart from native and exotic wood trees, the project has fruits trees like mangoes, avocados, soar soap, oranges, tangerine, lemons, Jackfruits, Guava, Breadfruits, custard apples, Cashew nuts, and Moringa Oleifera. These trees and crops will produce food as well as cash to the project beneficiaries through the beneficiaries network program.

While our prime goal is to make the degraded land become the forest to inspired the planet’s ecosystem, we still look back to our doer’s livelihood. The common villagers who motivated to work on our vision day and night to make the area turn the green forest once again. Their living depends on agriculture, which its return is now unpredictable due to the climate changes effects. The project has 23 beneficiaries who realize themselves as ideal team joining hands with ambakofi to conquer deforestation in their village.

Cost – effective Clean Energy Solution

Uses of the Cost-effective clean energy solutions, we envision to see rural and urban dwellers minimize over-dependence of using charcoal and firewood in the cooking and heating. Current, most of the people in the rural and urban areas of Tanzania have no alternative cost-effective clean energy that can help to reduce or cut off the consumption of charcoal and firewood in their household use.

Environmental Education

Providing environmental education to our school children and people around the community, we invest to create future custodians who will learn to live in harmony with nature at their juvenile age.

Beneficiary Network

For the sustainable social and economic bonds, the network will connect our beneficiaries around Tanzania into a single coalition for economic growth and social ties purpose. In the coming days, the network will connect our project beneficiaries in Mkange and Mihuga villages who implement agroforests activities.
